Background
We all live on the Fylde coast in the North West of England but occasionally like to spread our wings and allow other parts of the UK and Europe to have the honour of our presence.
We usually have two Jolly Boys Outings per year. One day out in the UK during the Summer months and a long weekend away somewhere in Europe in the Autumn.
Selecting venues for our outings is a hard task and involves much deliberation and several beers. Not everywhere meets our selection criteria.
After viewing our web site you may feel that you'd like to apply to be a Jolly Boy. Well, we're sorry, membership is by invitation only.
History of The Jolly Boys Outing
In the early 1990s we decided to have a special Christmas pub crawl in Blackpool. A splendid time was had by all, one of our colleagues (our then artist in residence) was so emotional that he completely forgot where he was and asked his good lady to pick him up at another pub completely. From that day on the night out became known as the Jolly Boys Outing.
Of course we needed to organise something more spectacular than this for our next outing and so the European Jolly Boys Outing was born.
It soon became clear that an annual event was just not enough so a couple of years later the Summer Day Out was introduced
